nimpkish lake

Recommended by my friend Fadi as a place to find solitude and peace amongst nature with no connection to the outside world, I had to give this lake a try as the next stop along highway 19. The drive from Campbell river was completely off grid, and barely a another car was passed. You definitely got a feeling the north was a much less populated part of the island.

Nimpkish lake is a narrow and long lake that makes it’s way towards Port McNeill. I chose a wild camping spot of the iOverlander app, which led me down my first logging road, to the edge of a lake. With a number of semi-permanent looking caravans parked up, I decided to park up in a little stretch on lakeside land. It seemed like no-one was about, with most of the caravans seemingly empty.

A beautiful spot, and with the weather clearing up nicely for the evening, it was time to enjoy the off-grid life, light a fire and catch-up on some journaling.
