Sooke Potholes

Abandoned Deertrail Resort

Sooke Pothole national park is in the south of Vancouver Island, and a short 40 minute drive from Victoria, the capital of British Columbia. It also well into Bear/Cougar country, with plenty of other wildlife in the wilderness. I stayed at Goldstream campsite just outside Langford, which was a great base for the potholes and exploring Sooke national park.
The ruins are are the remains of the Deertrail Resort, a luxury construction project abandoned in the 80’s due to a lack of investment.
Drive a bit further west around highway 14 and there’s so much to see beyond Sooke national park on the west coast of the island.
