TOFINO

It’s surf time… Tofino is definitely a highlight of the island so far. Epic sandy beaches, a great atmosphere in the small surf town and home to the original Tacofino food truck, an absolute must. Best Tacos? They might well be… Highway 4 heading west from Parksville to Tofino is a beauty of a drive through the Pacific Rim National Park, with interesting stop offs, such as Goats on a Roof farm shop, Cathedral Grove (a boardwalk through a stunning old grove forest full of Douglas Furs and Red Cedars) and the potholes on the side of the road at Clayoquot Plateau Provincial Park. Driving past Lake Kennedy at sunset is breathtaking.

It took a while to get back into the surf but with 3-4 foot waves it was the perfect re-introduction into the water. Another lovely park is Tonquin Park, a 20 minute walk from Tofino town.
